The State of the Union

Seeing how this has been the most recent event to transpire I'll use it as a springboard to display my thoughts. I listened to the majority of the speech in my car while driving, and then finished it up watching it on television. I was amazed! I thought that I had possibly stepped into a time machine and went back roughly 18 months. These were the same worn down promises that were told in debates and speeches that never came to fruition. Obama promised to post all bills he would sign prior to receiving his signature, and he urged congress to follow his example. But where was that promise with Stimulus 1, or Cap and Trade, or the 30+ executive orders he executed during 2009 alone? If he wants congress to emulate him all they have to do is continue to NOT post proposals online. Then he moved to spending. I thought it was a clever trick to try to compare the last 8 years to his one. He talked about how the previous administration had doubled the national debt with fighting two wars and two tax cuts, and then went on to excuse the spending he did in his first year, that same spending surpassed the most expensive year under the previous administration. What was the most impressive accusation was to put zero blame on himself for that spending. Obama WAS a voting member of bank bailouts, Obama WAS a vote for tarp, for earmarks, and for an enormous amount of federal spending, but so long as the media is going to help cover up your fabrications, then I guess you don't have to bring up all of the details. After that he claimed he had to spend $1 trillion in his first year and I nearly fainted. He spoke of a trillion dollars as though it really wasn't all that much money, and his hand was forced after all. He was forced to give auto-makers from other countries massive amounts of our tax dollars. He was forced to lift federal bans that flooded monies into bureaucracies that literally exhausted funds on minor projects, but with major budgets. He was forced to spend at every turn he made, and yet none of the promises that spending was backed by came to pass. Unemployment went up, jobs went down, but so long as you keep saying you fixed something, I guess it's fixed. I am so tired of hearing people say "it's his first year, what do you expect?" or "give him a chance, he is trying". If you run for president, the most powerful position in the most powerful country and you look America right in the faces and say 'elect me, trust me, I can get it done' there is no giving it a chance. There is do or get out. and Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Biden, Clinton, McCain, Lieberman, Snowe, and any other people who absolutely refuse to listen to the American people please... get out!

In the beginning...

Hello,

I'd like to start off by saying I have no delusions of grander in regards to this blog. My wife introduced me to blogspot initially and she uses it for a great place to update the world about our family. My intentions with this forum is simply a place to put my thoughts and garner responses from as many people as possible. I am a senior at UNLV majoring in Political Science. Politics will be the major area of debate amongst my posts. I want it to be understood that I will be posting opinions in regards to political life, but I will occasionally venture off into many other avenues of life. This will be my rant - so to speak. And with that, lets begin!
